Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Submission Guidelines
Thank you for your interest in submitting to the Canadian Journal of Educational Studies and Technology. The journal publishes original research, theoretical frameworks, comprehensive reviews, and case studies on the areas covering technology in educational contexts. We welcome submissions that focus on the impact of emerging technologies, pedagogical innovations, and the intersection of educational practices with digital tools.
1. Types of Submissions
The journal accepts the following types of submissions:
- Research Articles: Original empirical studies in the field of educational technology, learning sciences, curriculum design, teacher development, and related areas.
- Theoretical Papers: Conceptual articles that explore new models, theories, and frameworks related to educational technology and learning.
- Reviews: Comprehensive reviews of literature in areas of educational technology, learning theories, and their applications in educational contexts.
- Case Studies: Reports on real-world applications of educational technologies in classrooms, schools, or other educational environments.
- Meta-Analyses: Studies that synthesize existing research on particular topics related to technology-enhanced learning/teaching.
2. Submission Requirements
All submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
- Language: Manuscripts must be submitted in English.
- Length: Manuscripts should be no more than 7,000 words, including references, tables, and figures. Shorter submissions (3,000-5,000 words) are encouraged for case studies and conceptual papers.
- Abstract: All submissions must include an abstract of 150-250 words that summarizes the key objectives, methods, findings, and significance of the study or discussion.
- Keywords: Authors should provide 3-5 relevant keywords to help categorize the submission.
- References: Submissions must follow APA 7th edition referencing style. Authors should ensure that all citations are included in the reference list and vice versa.
- Figures and Tables: All figures and tables must be numbered and captioned. Tables should be provided in Word format, while figures must be submitted as high-resolution images (300 DPI). Each figure and table must be referenced within the text.
- Supplementary Materials: If applicable, supplementary materials such as datasets, code, or multimedia files may be submitted as supplementary files.
- Ethical Standards: Authors must ensure their work adheres to ethical guidelines. This includes obtaining informed consent for studies involving human participants and complying with institutional and legal guidelines regarding data usage and privacy.
3. Submission Process
- Online Submission: Manuscripts must be submitted through our online submission portal. We do not accept email submissions.
- Initial Screening: Each submission will undergo an initial screening by the editorial team to ensure it meets the journal’s scope and standards.
- Peer Review: All submissions will be subject to double-blind peer review. Authors are expected to respond to reviewer comments and revise their manuscripts as necessary.
- Revisions: Authors may be asked to revise their manuscripts based on feedback from peer reviewers. Authors should submit a detailed response to reviewers when submitting revised versions of their work.
- Acceptance: Manuscripts that successfully pass the peer review process will be accepted for publication. Authors will receive a final acceptance letter along with proofs for review.
4. Open Access and Copyright
- Open Access: The Canadian Journal of Educational Studies and Technology is an open-access journal, meaning that all published content is freely available to readers worldwide.
- Copyright: Upon acceptance, authors will be asked to sign a copyright transfer agreement, granting the journal exclusive rights to publish the article. Authors retain the right to reuse their work in other publications with proper citation of the original publication.
- Creative Commons License: All published articles will be distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing others to share, distribute, and build upon the work as long as proper attribution is given.
5. Formatting Guidelines
- Document Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.
- Font: Use Times New Roman, size 12 pt for the main text, with 1.5 line spacing. Use single spacing for tables and figure captions.
- Headings: Use clear and consistent heading levels (e.g., 1. Main Heading, 1.1 Subheading, 1.1.1 Sub-subheading).
- Page Numbering: Number pages consecutively in the top-right corner.
6. Ethical Considerations
- Plagiarism: Submissions must be original and free from plagiarism. All sources must be properly cited and referenced.
- Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest during the submission process.
- Data Availability: Authors should provide access to data, materials, or tools used in their research whenever possible, in compliance with ethical standards.
7. Author Contributions
All authors must clearly define their contributions to the manuscript (e.g., conceptualization, methodology, data collection, analysis, writing, etc.) in a short author contribution statement.
8. Fees
There are no submission or publication fees. As an open-access journal, the journal is committed to providing free access to all its content for readers without charging publication fees to authors.
